When you’re looking for wigs, hair pieces, or hair extensions, you’ll see information about ‘hair grade.’ With so many different kinds of wigs, hair loss solutions, and extensions on the market, a hair grading system was put in place so that in theory, you can tell whether the hair is good quality or not.

The hair grading system has made choosing wigs, extensions, and hair pieces simpler, but because the system isnt regulated, sometimes you just don’t know what you’re getting and this can be frustrating and confusing.

What Are The Grades?

ЗA, 4A, 5A, 6A, 7A, 8A, 9A 1OAThose are the human hair grades currently being used within the industry 3A being the lowest quality hair and 10A the highest. This article by Airy Hair provides a complete overview of the qualities to expect from each grade.

Grade 3A

This is usually cheap, thin, low-quality hair which sometimes has synthetic hair added to it. It’s chemically processed and you might be able to smell this. This type of hair will usually shed and tangle easily.

Grade 4A and 5A

This hair is also quite thin and easy to tangle if it’s not taken care of. It’s usually low to medium quality, and often used in hairstylist training.

Grade 6A

This is reasonable quality medium thick hair and is suitable for anyone on a budget. It’s usually Remy hair which means the cuticles go in the same direction so it’s less likely to tangle.

Grade 7A

This is high-quality thick Remy hair that won’t shed or tangle as much. It’s still a great budget-friendly option for ladies who want to feel gorgeous again.

Grade 8A and 9A

This is 100% human virgin hair. Virgin hair means that the hair has not been processed in any way. This hair won’t tangle as much as other types and you’ll find it’s easier to maintain. You’ll notice that the higher quality is reflected in a higher price tag.

Grade 10A

This is the best quality hair that you can buy and it’s also the most expensive. It’s 100 thick, strong virgin hair and if it’s looked after properly, it will last you a long time.

Has The Grading Always Been The Same?

No. Early on in the system, 5A hair was considered high quality but as technology evolved to produce better quality hair and customers have become shrewder, 5A hair is now considered to be medium quality hair.

Is The System Regulated?

No. There is no formal regulation for the hair grading system which means that unfortunately, a lot of sellers will advertise hair as being higher quality than it is.Considering most hair is sold to customers online, this makes it difficult to ascertain whether the hair is actually as high quality as advertised, until you get it into your hands.

Is There A Price Difference Between Grades?

Yes. As with most things in life, higher quality often translates to higher price and the grading system is no different. It is important to note, however, that because the system is unregulated, paying more for hair doesn’t always mean you’ll get the highest quality.

What are the differences between single, double and super double drawn hair human hair weave

Besides the names like 7A, 8A, 9A or 10A, ect., another thing people concern about grades of hair is single, double and super double drawn hair human hair weave. It’s about technique. And with physical eyes, you can tell the difference between them by thickness.

A bundle of hair with a single drawn is thicker at the top and thinner at the end. With double drawn, the difference of thickness between the top and the tip reduces that makes them mostly equal. The perfect comes with super drawn. The top and the end have the same thickness, giving you awesome hair like beauties on TVC.

Why Does High Grade Not Mean High Quality In Hair Extensions?

With the classification above, it’s clear that higher grades are better. But many customers complain that sometimes they buy high grades of hair but they don’t have high quality. So, why?

In fact, with the same grade of hair, the quality of products from various suppliers are different. That creates the classification of suppliers. Put your trust in good suppliers and you will never be let down.

How to Pluck a Wig?

how to pluck a wig? Unless you’re piecing together a Halloween costume, the goal is always for your wig to look sleek and seamless. Like, so seamless, no one even questions whether or not it’s real. But there’s a difference between wanting a flawless fit and actually achieving one. Customizing your wig is the one thing that can help close that gap. That means you need to pluck your wig so it’s specifically tailored to your hairline—it’s the best way to make it look as natural as possible.

Why do you pluck a wig?

Pre-plucked wigs let you achieve a natural-looking hairline. In a plucked wig, the density on the top is lower, as is the case with real hair. Hair of unequal length always tends to grow around a person’s hairline, which is a sign of natural hair growth.

Thus, to get a completely realistic look, the hairpiece or the wig should also be plucked to give that same impression and create a flawless hairline. Pre-plucked wigs do not have this problem.

However, for a wig that is not pre-plucked, you have to perform plucking on the wig manually. How?

How do you pluck a wig with tweezers?

Step #1: Bleach The Knots Of Your Wig

Bleach the knots to make them invisible. This way, the wigs will appear more natural. This step is entirely optional, and you can skip this part if you are not sure. Start by bleaching the knots around the little dots at the base of the cap. It is where most of the hair is attached in a wig.

According to preference, take two scoops of bleach powder, and mix it in a developer. Keep the consistency of the developer slightly thicker, so that it does not seep into the hair. Make sure to apply the above concoction to the hair delicately. Do not apply too much pressure because doing so will sink the bleach right into the hair.

Step #2: Shampoo The Wig Cap

For a maximum desired result, let the bleach sit for at least 30 to 45 minutes. Next step, shampoo the area of the cap where the knot is bleached. Let it sit for 3 to 4 minutes before rinsing.

Although bleaching the hair knots gives you a natural-looking wig, it is highly recommended to ask an expert help for better results. If you think bleach would ruin your wig, apply some foundation inside the lace to achieve a seamlessly blended hair wig.

Step #3: Pluck The Wig

This is the important step where the wig is actually plucked. Use a mannequin and place the hair on and start customizing the hairline. For the wig that is already pre-plucked Wigs type, you need to do less plucking.

After you are done plucking hair, please take a little bit of mousse and apply it around the hairline. You can use a curling wand to help push hair back. Applying mousse will make it easier for you to tweeze hair.

Step #4: Dry Your Hair Wig

After completing step 3, be sure to dry the hair because drying makes it easier to see the hairline. Next, apply a small amount of coconut oil to your hair. Begin the process of plucking by getting a pair of best tweezers.

Choose quality tweezers for good results. Start tweezing from the front of the hairline and remove any knots of hair that are not adequately bleached. You need to follow the next step to separate the hair and go back into the hairline to tweeze.

Avoid plucking hair only at the front, because this does not remove any extra hair. Doing that will make it bulky, and the final look will be ruined. Be careful while tweezing, and don’t concentrate on one area for a long time. Also, avoid excess tweezing as it can lead to bald spots.

Step #5: Section Out Some More Hair

Sectioning out some more hair. Remember, this time, pluck some hair off the less thin sections than the other parts. The frontals will look more natural because it creates a gradation effect with the hairline for a natural look.

Step #6: Baby Hair

After finishing the natural hairline creation, recreate some baby hair by cutting a small strand of hair from the front part of the wig. This makes the hairline look natural, and your wig is ready to wear.

You can pluck a wig without using a tweezer and a mannequin. When you don’t have a tweezer, use your long nails to pluck the hair. It may be hard for some people, but it is not. Pluck your wig directly on your head when you don’t have a mannequin.

Hold your lace with a tight grip, so you don’t over-pluck. Some people prefer this way because you exactly know which direction you want your hairline to be with a wig on your head.
