Even though there wasn’t a “Big Bang,” the metaverse was made in the early 1990s, when getting together in a virtual reality seemed out of this world. Still, 30 years later, meeting and event planners of the future are looking to the metaverse development. If you’re not ready to take it seriously yet, consider that Bloomberg thinks it will be worth a cool $800 million by 2024.

In its most basic form, the metaverse is a 3D virtual environment that is immersive and stays the same. It’s a beautiful idea that breaks the fourth wall and pulls the audience through the screen and into a new world. What used to be a science fiction idea is now a big part of the real world.

There are already well-known examples of how the conference room in the metaverse is used—not in the workplace, but as the workplace. Horizon Workroom by the Meta Group is a good example of how to host small, professional meetings online (formerly known as Facebook). Mytaverse, a fully cloud-based platform, was a more ambitious attempt to copy the event industry in the virtual world.

But, you ask, how do you get into these worlds? Well, sometimes all you have to do is open your phone. A simple example is the Sensorium Galaxy app, which works with the metaverse but doesn’t show the true spirit of the digital environment. VR headsets like Meta Quest 2 are the best way to fully immerse yourself in the metaverse. Yes, they’re expensive, but since big tech companies are making more virtual reality (VR) products, you can expect them to get cheaper soon.

How The Metaverse Can Help Make Meetings More Productive

1. Plenty of Room For Ideas

With all of our advanced technology, we take it for granted that we have a lot of space. There are only so many TV screens, chairs, and whiteboards that can fit in an office. On a laptop screen, you can only see so many webcam panels and shared documents at once. The problem of space is solved right away by the metaverse. You can have more whiteboards, 3D models, or screens if you need them for brainstorming. No more fumbling with stacks of papers and books or trying to find a statistic by moving through 12 open windows at once.

Think about how you can build a beautiful scene for your meeting room with no limits on your creativity. This is in contrast to the current COVID-affected workforce, where the Zoom screen makes you feel like you’re lost in a sea of faces.

2. Being Able To Visualize And Solve Problems In 3D

The metaverse could help people solve problems better, especially in construction, architecture, healthcare, and design. The metaverse’s 3D models allow for more detailed mock-ups and a better understanding of the materials your team is working with. This is good news for any workplace that deals with physical objects.

3. Engagement That Feels Like A Video Game

The idea of gamification will make work meetings better in the metaverse. Think: Less work, more play, but you’re still getting work done. Even before the metaverse, gamification made 87% of workers feel like they had more in common with their coworkers. It will lead to more immersive and exciting places to work, and by its very nature, it will get people to interact with their surroundings.

4. Getting Rid of The “Remoteness” From Remote Work

When the remote office space moves from the computer screen to the metaverse, employees will feel less alone. It’s like a domino effect: The unique immersive qualities of the metaverse and blockchain development services will make people more engaged and improve company culture. Then, being in the same world, even if it’s just a virtual one, will make your coworkers feel like they’re together in a way that Zoom can’t.

5. A Better Ability To Express Yourself

The metaverse is a great way for team members to express themselves because they can be anyone they want to be. Avatars can be a fun way to build your sense of self, your confidence, and your ability to talk to your team. There are a lot of ways to be creative that have nothing to do with race, gender, physical limitations, or anything else.

Here Are Some Workplaces In The Metaverse

As you can see, working in the metaverse has a lot of good points. These spaces allow for freedom, creativity, and work. Here are some examples of how other companies are using the Metaverse in their workplaces and why they think this is the future of work.

Horizon Workrooms – Meta (Facebook)

Meta’s dream of the metaverse isn’t fully realized yet, but their virtual office product is. It’s called Horizon Workrooms, and the Oculus Quest 2 has it. It’s good for businesses because it’s cheap, completely immersive, and easy to use. Facebook’s teams have already started to use it. From your workstation, you can use your current technology, such as your computer or keyboard, in the space.

Tangle

Tangle is a virtual office product that doesn’t use VR. It’s great for your company to use for access and testing. It can be used on a desktop, so your organization doesn’t need to buy any other tools for the people who use it. Tangle’s friendly user interface is another benefit that goes along with how easy it is to use. It can help remote teams work together better.

VISIONxR™

This is how we work together online. We made VISIONxRTM so that it can be changed to fit the needs of each client.

One good thing about this is that it works with all devices (PC Screen, VR Headsets, Tablets and Mobile). It is built around collaborative work and training, which can be great for a company’s remote workers.

One thing to note, though, is that VISIONxR™ is not a ready-made product. It would take time to tailor the virtual environment to your needs and then add it to your existing business processes.

Others

All of Microsoft, Amazon, Apple, and Google have talked about making their own places in the Metaverse. We don’t know much about how these products will work yet, but these could be companies to keep an eye on for future workplaces in the metaverse.

What’s The Catch?

Everything sounds too good to be true, doesn’t it? First, we need to keep in mind that a lot of what we say is through body language, which gets lost in the metaverse, at least for now. We don’t know if technology will ever be able to understand body language.

The Metaverse probably isn’t for everyone, but it has a place and will be useful in some situations. For instance, it can be helpful for businesses that are growing quickly or that need their employees to work together a lot. It can also help with tasks that need you to pay attention and concentrate.

Even though the metaverse workplace is still in its early stages, it could change the way we work in a big way. It can be changed, grown, and scaled. Also it can help people be more productive and come up with better ideas. It can also save money on office space and supplies. The future of work from home is the metaverse workplace.
