Earlier this year, the VnROM – Now Cyber Rights Protection – Chinese government blocked thousands of VPN providers and popular VPN services with the apparent aim to crackdown on illegal downloads and file sharing. This resulted in internet users unable to access popular VPN services including HotSpotShield, ExpressVPN, and TOR.
